About Us

Welcome!

As a non-profit preschool licensed by the MA Dept. of Early Education and Care, OACP provides a curriculum designed to promote development across all aspects of our students’ lives. Our program is designed as a well-balanced and enjoyable introduction to learning. We will establish a loving and caring relationship with your child. We will care for, nurture, educate, and provide the guidance for your child to reach his or her full potential.

In this Christian environment, your child will be given the opportunity to investigate, observe, make choices, and ask questions on all kinds of subjects. The children will be taught basic values and morals which can be positively reinforced at home. This will be accomplished through child-initiated and teacher-directed activities. Your child will interact with other children in activities suited specifically for preschool.

Open Arms Christian Preschool admits all children and all families and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, cultural heritage, disability, marital status, or sexual orientation in its educational programs or admission policies.

Our Story

Open Arms Christian Preschool is a non-profit child care center that was opened in 1996 to serve the children of Bedford and the surrounding communities. Open Arms is a ministry of The Lutheran Church of the Savior (LCS) in Bedford, Massachusetts. The Preschool is governed by a Board of Director appointed by LCS’ Church Council. LCS is shepherded by Rev. Jonathan Manor. As Pastor of the church, Pastor Manor serves as the spiritual shepherd of both the congregation and the preschool.

If you have any questions about what it means to be a Christian in the Lutheran tradition, or would like to talk to Pastor about spiritual matters, he can be reached via email at pastor@lcsavior.org or via church phone at 781-275-6013.

Philosophy & Mission

Open Arms Christian Preschool (OACP) has been providing a Christian learning environment since 1996. We believe that each child is a unique individual, and they are encouraged to develop at a comfortable rate of growth. Our curriculum provides guidance to promote seven areas of development — spiritual, social, emotional, physical, cognitive, language, and self-help skill. Our goal is to share the gift of Jesus’ word by providing a Christian learning environment and education for the children of our community.

Helping Your Child Explore, Grow, & Learn

Open Arms curriculum follows the Massachusetts Department of Education Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences. We offer language and literacy skills, math, history and science concepts, the arts, health education, and fine and large motor skills.

A day at OACP might include: Free Play/Center Time, Morning Snack, Academic Activities (fine motor skills, Language Arts, Math/Science), Group Time (Bible, Calendar, Weather), Playground/Gym (gross motor skills), Story time/Music, or Chapel with Pastor Manor!

What Our Families are Saying

We have sent three of our kids to Open Arms! It has been a great start for our children’s education. They come out well-prepared for kindergarten, they love going to school, and their teachers are kind and compassionate and loving. We are thankful for Open Arms!

We absolutely LOVE Open Arms Preschool and the amazing staff there. They truly have loved and cared for our son as if he was their own. I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful little school!

– Canice U.

The school has a bright spacious facility with lots of room to play, both inside and outside. Preschool programs are very creative and engaging. [Our son] was very happy to go to school every morning and came back with lots of memories and lots of crafty little (and sometimes large) things he has made together with his class during the day. Overall this was the best preschool we could have chosen for our son!
